On behalf of the WCA Board, I would like to welcome you all back to our newsletter after a busy summer season. It is so great to see so
many people out enjoying the summer and early fall days. Have you ever wondered how you could meet more people in your community?
When I first moved here 5 years ago, I asked myself that very question. In an attempt to meet people my neighbourhood, I toted my
three-week-old baby door-to-door to canvass for the Annual Membership Drive. Five years later, I am still going door-to-door. I
have held the post of Membership Director for two years and have had the pleasure of meeting hundreds of residents in Wildwood. You may
chuckle as you read that, but I am indeed very serious! We have such interesting folks in our community from both near and far. We can all
become acquainted and stay connected through involvement with our Community Association.
Becoming a WCA Member is an inexpensive way to contribute to the programs, events and upkeep of Wildwood. With your help, we are
able to offer a variety of activities to our community members, both young and old alike. Your fees help maintain our green spaces, fund
the publication of the Warbler, maintain the tennis courts, rinks and community garden, and host events such as the annual Community
Clean-Up, family picnics, pub nights and children’s parties.
If you are willing and able to help out with our Annual Membership Drive, I would love to hear from you! I continually collect names in anticipation of our Membership Drive, which happens every spring. My goal is to have a canvasser from each block in the neighbourhood. You could get to know new neighbours and reconnect with those whom you have known for years. The more volunteers we have, the fewer homes we each need to visit. With one canvasser per block, all of our canvassing could be completed in just a few nights each spring. What are you waiting for Wildwood? Let’s get out there and meet our neighbours!
