WCA Board Meeting Highlights – February 18, 2014

  • Parking Lot Re-Paving: Discussion regarding the possible re-paving, and a grant application to cover some of the costs of this large maintenance project.
  • Business Planning: Progress continues on the Business Plan with the following policies drafted and reviewed: Development, Code of Conduct and Financial Management. The Hall Maintenance and Hall Rental volunteers met to discuss the best ways to ensure the hall is well-kept and clean, so that it continues to be an attractive facility for community residents and renters. They are working on finalizing both process and policy documents for the Hall.
  • Membership / Program Registration System: Gordon reviewed a new membership/program registration system with interactive capabilities. The Board is keen on the system and a couple of Directors have agreed to work on the initial installation of the system. Shelby, our very capable Membership Director is resigning after the AGM and we now need to find someone who can take this new system and make some magic!
  • Our Community Garden Continues to Inspire:Children’s Gardening program is taking shape, the beds are full and we have a wait list of keen gardeners. Information sessions are being planned and the Community Garden members are attending workshops related to the garden.
  • Grants Received: About $61,000 in grants have been received, which cover a large part of the re-roofing project costs.
