2014 WCA Year End Review

WCA Community Association: All board positions are now filled. Thank you so much to all of our committed volunteers. Without you, Wildwood would be just another community. The board meets the third Tuesday of each month (except December, July and August). Please feel free to join us to keep in touch with everything that is going on in Wildwood.

The community association has been very busy this year. We have been working to refine our board structure, our board meetings and our policies and procedures. We want to be able to provide you with well-run, enjoyable events and activities. This takes a lot of time and organization, but our volunteers do it willingly.

Volunteers: We are a volunteer run organization and that makes it more special that people are willing to give their time for the community. It also makes it a bit harder to provide you with all these extras unless we get enough help. The old saying, ‘many hands make light work’ is so true. If you want to help out with one of our events or programs, please contact our volunteer coordinator. There is a new online event volunteer tool to make volunteering that much easier. I would like to thank all of our dedicated volunteers for their help and commitment this year.

Sports Programming: Our sports committees have worked hard to provide programs that so many people have participated in including, tennis, soccer, shinny hockey, learn to skate and of course we have had our hockey and pleasure skating rinks always busy and so well maintained throughout the winter season.

Events: We had some new events this year, starting with the Sip and Swirl wine tasting event, a volunteer appreciation night, and a Stampede breakfast. We have also had the annual clean up, yoga classes, Wednesday morning playgroup, and many other events going on throughout 2014.

Community Garden: The garden looks wonderful during the growing season and even looks great covered in snow!! We have a new Little Free Library. Please take some time to look through the books, take some or leave some for the next people. We have our wonderful public art piece, the Water Spiral that has become a gathering point for people who want to sit and relax around the garden.

Communications: Our fantastic Warbler is produced ten months of the year to keep you informed of all our neighbourhood news. Our website keeps improving all the time, and we are putting more and more things online to help make it easier for you to keep up to date with our community events.

Casino: We will be hosting a casino in February and are still looking for volunteers to help with this event. This is our main fundraiser of the year, and it allows us to do all these other tremendous activities. Please consider volunteering for the casino.

I look forward to many wonderful activities and events coming up in 2015!
