Traffic News

Traffic issues continue to worsen for Wildwood residents and long time resident Gord Kirk doggedly pursued Councillor Woolley to join him to observe traffic patterns at Bow Trail intersections. Gord’s efforts to raise the profile of traffic issues did get the attention of Councillor Woolley. A motion at the conclusion of the Public Hearing directing the Transportation Department to “review the pedestrian environment and intersections of 37th Street S.W. and 38th Street S.W. at Bow Trail…” and to report back to Council no later than September 30 2016 was passed.

Council has allocated funds to convert all school zones to playground zones in 2015. The City of Calgary started this transition from school zones to playground zones in August 2015 and will complete the work no later than the end of 2015.

By transitioning school zones to consistent playground zones, there will no longer be any question as to when motorists are required to slow down. Playground zones are in effect every day, year-round whereas school zones were only in effect on school days.

REMEMBER TO SLOW DOWN: PLAYGROUND AND SCHOOL ZONES 7:30am to 9:00pm DAILY 30 KM/HR MAX.
