The Board of Directors is a dedicated group of volunteers who meet on the third Tuesday of every month (with the exception of July, August and December) to discuss important matters relating to the WCA (such as budget and funding, new initiatives, community development and upcoming events).
WCA members are welcome to attend board meetings if they would like to make a presentation or proposal to the Board. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to submit information about your proposal before the next scheduled meeting. The date and time of the upcoming Board meeting is published on the third page of the Warbler each month.
President – Jason Chin
Responsible for the operation of the Board. Chairs the monthly Board meetings, is involved with issues relating to the community and liaises with the City on behalf of the Community Association.
Vice-President – VACANT
Fulfils the President’s responsibilities in the absence of the President, manages special projects, attends monthly Board meetings.
Secretary – Tracy Smith
Collects and distributes material for upcoming Board meetings from Board members, takes minutes at meetings.
Treasurer – Katrina Dudley
Responsible for managing the WCA’s financial and accounting matters, which involves overseeing the work of the Financial Administrator, acting as one of two designated signing authorities for the WCA’s bank accounts and presenting the monthly accounting statements to the Board.
Communications – Alison Laberge
Works with Communications Team (Warbler Editor, Webmaster, Sign Coordinator and Advertising Coordinator) to establish a monthly communication plan and budget for the upcoming year. Updates the WCA website, as required, with information on new programs and events, manages the general WCA email account and directs incoming email to the applicable person(s).
Community Advocacy – Joanne Brice
Maintains awareness and knowledge of local issues and works with regulators/government to impact proposed changes. Engages community residents as required.
Community Events – VACANT
Liaises with events organisers and vendors (as required) to ensure that events are run smoothly and on budget.
Community Garden – Pamela Gee
Oversees the Community Garden Team
Membership – Tamara Gogal
Oversees membership applications and answers any membership-related queries from residents
Volunteers – VACANT
Determines (through other directors) volunteer requirements for the year. Recruits volunteers using available tools and information.
Grants – Pema Lektsog
Researches grants for specific project-related work (usually physical maintenance) and completes grant proposals.
Sports & Community Programs – Caren Dymond
Acts as liaison with all coordinators of the various community-sponsored programs to ensure programs are running smoothly
Facilities Management Director – VACANT
Oversee the Facilities Manager who, in turn, responds to rental inquiries, books the hall and prepares the standard contract for signing. Collects money, provides keys and inspects the hall following the event.
