The Wildwood Community Clean up will be held on May 8 at the Wildwood Community Hall.

Typically we have a group of volunteers drive up and down the alleyways collecting from neighbour homes and bringing goods to the community Hall to be recycled or trashed. Interested in Volunteering to help collect from your neighbours alleyways or help sort/direct traffic/unload at the community hall? Sign up to get involved or contact us at volunteer@mywildwood.ca

How does it work?

We need 33 individuals (split over 3 shifts) to work the grounds.  We have 18 routes – so for simplicity 18 drivers/trucks plus 2 extra people per vehicle.  So about 90 volunteers for the day; if we do not get enough volunteers, we will have to shift the clean-up to a drop-off only. Priority will be given to community pick-up crews to drop off at the community centre. All minors must be accompanied by an adult.
There will not be an organics truck this year so any yard waste – branches, dirt, sod, leaves etc. will not be picked up.  If these items are brought to the hall they will simply go to the landfill (boo!). We need to get the work out on this – NO ORGANICS!  We also CANNOT accept certain items:  mattresses, carseats, propane tanks, appliances, paint, etc.
ACCEPTING:
  • Waste
  • Recycling
  • Metals
  • Electronics
  • Reusables

Do you have items that are just too good to throw out? Maybe someone else can use them. An area will be set aside to help yourself.

NOT ACCEPTING:

  • x Tires
  • × Glass
  • x Mattresses
  • × Propane Tanks
  • × Paint/Liquids
  • × Car Batteries
  • × Refrigerated appliances
  • × Railway Ties
  • × Organic Waste
