Your voice matters

If you have a great community advocacy idea, we would love to hear from you.

Community Advocacy

Community advocates provide advocacy on behalf of a community and lobby for or against development or change within neighborhoods. They are also responsible for providing citizens with information about public issues that the community may not be aware of. We champion Wildwood on issues such as traffic safety, park preservation, and responsible development.

Planning & Development Committee

The Wildwood Community Association’s Planning and Development Committee is a group of community volunteers who review City planning applications and submit comments to the City as appropriate and on behalf of the WCA. We provide feedback only and are not directly involved in the permit decision-making process.

Traffic Committee

Are you passionate about pedestrian, cycling, traffic, and public transit safety in our community? The WCA Community Advocacy director is looking eager residents to join the Traffic Committee to help make our community safe and enjoyable for everyone.

Douglas Fir Trail Update (Jan 2025)

In November 2023, part of the trail (from just north of 150 Wildwood Drive S.W. to 48 Wildwood Drive S.W.) was closed due to damage that made parts of the trail unsafe. We put up signs and fences to keep the area secure.

While this section remains closed, the western part near 150 Wildwood Drive S.W. is still open. Only the areas with damaged structures and unsafe conditions remain closed. Our goal is to keep as much of the trail open as possible while making sure it’s safe and well-preserved for the future.

In January 2024, the City worked with WSP Canada Inc. on a geotechnical study to understand erosion and drainage issues. This will help us plan both short-term and long-term solutions for restoring the trail.
