Learn To Skate
at the Wildwood Outdoor Ice

When and Where
Location: Wildwood Community Outdoor Rink (4411 Spruce Dr. SW)
Ready to glide into winter fun? Join us at the Wildwood Outdoor Ice Rink for our Learn to Skate program, led by our fantastic coach, Claire! This program is perfect for young skaters of all skill levels, providing a safe and fun environment to build confidence on the ice.
Dates: Sundays, January 12 – February 9, 2025 (5 lessons)
Lesson times

3-5 years | New to Skating (parental involvement on ice is mandatory) | 10:00 – 10:45 |
5-10 years | Beginners (Able to stand on skates, able to move forward on skates) | 10:50 – 11:35 |
5-10 years | Advanced Beginners | 11:40 – 12:25 |

Cost is $55/child for Wildwood Community Association Members, $80/child for Non-Members
*If you need to renew your WCA membership, you can do so at the same time as registering for Learn to Skate.
Program Information
Equipment to Bring
- Skates (Children must bring their own)
- Helmets (Required for all participants)
- Warm clothing (snow pants, winter coat, gloves)
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
- Arrival: Please arrive 10–15 minutes early to get your child ready for the lesson. The Skate Room, located on the south side of the Community Hall, has a washroom and space for changing into skates.
- Cancellation Policy: Lessons will be canceled if the temperature or wind chill is -20°C or below at 9:00 am, or if ice conditions are poor. You’ll be notified by email if lessons are cancelled, with rescheduled sessions on or after February 23rd, 2025. No refunds will be issued.
- Parent Attendance: For the New to Skating group (ages 3-5), a parent must be on the ice with their child. For all other groups, parents are required to stay nearby (in the Skate Room or rinkside) during lessons. There are no “drop-offs” permitted.
Snacks & Warm-Up
On the first day, IF there are parent volunteers to help, we’ll provide hot chocolate and Timbits! We encourage parent volunteers to help continue this treat throughout the program. Please bring snacks and water for your child.
Waiver
While we take all precautions possible, there are inherent risks involved in putting your child in skating lessons. Please be aware that by signing the consent form, you are absolving the Wildwood Community Association and anyone else involved in the Learn-to-Skate program from any liability.
