Presidents Message 2022

Wow, it is hard to believe it is February already! I am hopeful that we have now made it through the worst of Covid.

Over the past year the WCA has worked hard to find ways to support our great community despite the difficult conditions we have been living through. While navigating ever changing restrictions, the WCA brought back many great programs such as Tennis, Yoga, Shinny, Learn to Skate and (new last fall) Tai Chi. The Garden was in full bloom over the summer, we held another successful Community Clean Up and the Rink Rats have been working all hours to provide the community 4 sheets of ice to enjoy. Community favorites returned such as Movie Night, the Christmas Market and Winter Festival. The WCA introduced a couple of new events such as the Halloween Pumpkin Carving contest and the Christmas Parade of Lights. Last but certainly not least, we supported our amazing Wildwood playschool to be able to continue to operate in these challenging times.

None of this would have been possible without the WCA Board and its team of hardworking volunteers. Thank you all for your contributions to the Wildwood community. Covid has been hard on everyone, this team included. With many key volunteer positions vacant, you have often had to wear many hats all while feeling the Covid burn out.

As life starts getting back to normal, my hope is for the WCA to begin to expand program offerings. To do that, the WCA needs your help to strengthen its volunteer base.  Please consider volunteering your time to support one of the best communities in YYC. Wildwood and the WCA need you to be able to continue building upon our past success.  If you are new to Wildwood, this is a great opportunity to meet your neighbours.

On April 27th, the WCA is holding its Annual General Meeting to elect the Board for the upcoming year. If you are interested in any of the Board or volunteer positions, please do not hesitate to reach out to secretary@mywildwood.ca for more information.
