Event Organizer Volunteer Application

Wildwood is currently seeking enthusiastic individuals who are keen to build community by organizing events. As part of a team you would be responsible for planning, advertising, organizing and running one of our key community events. Most events require about 8-12 hours per volunteer to plan and 6-8 hours to execute. These individuals are supported by the Board and Communications Volunteers. Interested in making friends, meeting your neighbours, building your resume or just keeping Wildwood one of the most sought after community in Calgary? Apply below to help run one of these important events:

Winter Festival: Typically held in January or February the Winter Festival is a time for Wildwood to come together around the Skating Rink, enjoy some pick-up shinny, curling, skating, sledding and hot chocolate by the fire. 4 Event Organizers are required to manage pre-event organization, advertisement, volunteer recruitment and day of event production.

Community Clean-up: This event is usually organized in the spring in partnership with Spruce Cliff and the City of Calgary. The city provides dump trucks and recycling services and Wildwood provides a team of volunteers to sort trash/recycling the day of. In addition there is a team of volunteers that drive around the alleyways collecting items to go to the community centre. 4-6 Event Organizers are required to manage pre-event organization, advertisement, volunteer recruitment (including trucks) and day of event production.

Parade of Garage Sales: Typically held end of May it is scheduled to be May 28, 2022. This event requires the management of garage sale locations, sign-up, signage, sponsors and advertisements. 2-4 Event Organizers are required to manage pre-event organization, advertisement, volunteer recruitment and day of event production.

Neighbour Day: Held June 18 on Neighbour Day this is a casual social event in the park with liquor service, music, and food trucks. 4 Event Organizers are required to manage pre-event organization, liquor licensing, band recruitment, food truck organizing, advertisement, volunteer recruitment and day of event production.

Tour-de-Wildwood: Held in June this family bike ride and activity day has been an exciting tradition in Wildwood. It includes map/traffic management, games/activities, and food trucks. 2-4 Event Organizers are required to manage pre-event organization, activity planning, advertisement, volunteer recruitment and day of event production.

Volunteer Thank you Event: Typically held in the late Spring/summer this event is a social night celebrating our amazing volunteer community. It includes games/activities, band and liquor service. 4 Event Organizers are required to manage pre-event organization, liquor licensing, band recruitment, activity planning, advertisement, volunteer recruitment and day of event production.

Harvest Festival: Held in October this event hosts Wildwood and Calgary Vendors and their wears or summer harvest. It typically brings together kid and adult friendly activities, a band, liquor service and food trucks/service. 4-6 Event Organizers are required to manage pre-event organization, liquor licensing, vendor registration, food truck organizing, advertisement, volunteer recruitment and day of event production.
